English and Pet Peeves

I find it immensely amusing that the English language has become so shapeless and sloppy that if someone happens to drop an "Indeed" or an "I suppose so" they immediately get a funny look or a chuckle. In comparison to how people spoke in the early 1800s, it's almost sad.

I wonder if we shall ever find ourselves in a world that speaks with dignity and education? We are humans, aren't we? Aren't we supposed to be an intelligent species? Not one that constantly says, "No, but like--"

One of my biggest pet peeves ever is the "No but like" phrase. I can't tell you how much I hate this phrase. The saddest part is, I continue to use it. **shudders**

Starting now I will list some of my biggest pet peeves:

PP#1: "No, but like--"

In an unrelated story, it is officially autumn! Well, technically it's been autumn for about a week and a half now, so... Rephrase! *It is officially October! :)

Which means one month until November.

Which means one month until NaNoWriMo.

Now, I am seriously doubting that NaNoWriMo will manage to squeeze itself into my already alarmingly filled schedule, but nonetheless, it is fun to plan for it ^-^

This year I'm going for a Sci-Fi as a nod to my somewhat recent obsession with Doctor Who. Don't worry, it's not a fan-fic, or even a spin-off--actually, it doesn't really have anything to do with space, time, or handsome men in classy clothes. Okay, wait, there are one or two men--but anyway, the only similarity that it could possibly have to DW is that it involves another world/dimension thing. I am not quite sure what to call it, but it is not Earth. Oh and it does involve young blonde girls and some British stuff. Hey, wait...

PP#2: Fan-Fiction. Ugh.
